Jessica Alba lahir di Pomona, California pada 28 April 1981 dari pasangan Louisa (née Jensen) dan Mark David Alba.

Ayahnya merupakan pasukan angkatan udara sedangkan ibunya merupakan seorang penjaga pantai.

Sebagai putri dari anggota Angkatan Udara AS, Jessica Alba sering berpindah-pindah saat tumbuh dewasa mulai dari Mississippi, dan Texas, sebelum akhirnya menetap di California.

Jessica Alba juga memiliki seorang anak bernama Joshua.

Ketika kecil, Jessica Alba pernah menderita beberapa penyakit seperti paru-paru, usus buntu, asma, hingga gangguan kompulsif obsesif.

Ketika berusia 11 tahun, Jessica Alba pernah menjuarai kompetisi acting di Beverly Hills dan mendapatkan hadiah berupa kelas akting gratis.

Jessica Alba menempuh penedikannya di Claremont High School dan melanjutkan ke Atlantic Theatre Company.

Karier

Jessica Alba mengawali karirnya dengan ikut berpartisipasi dalam beberapa kompetisi hingga akhirnya ia debut dalam film 'Camp Nowhere' yang tayang 1994 dan acara televisi 'The Secret World of Alex Mack'.

Pada 2000, Jessica Alba mendapatkan kesempatan untuk bermain di serial televisi Fox sci-fi berjudul 'Dark Angel'.

Berkat penampilannya dalam Dark Angel, Jessica Alba berhasil memenangkan banyak penghargaan termasuk Teen Choice Award untuk "Choice Actress" dan Saturn Award untuk Best Actress.

Setelah kesuksesannya bermain dalam Drak Angel, Jessica Alba kemudian tampil dalam beberapa film terkenal seperti 'Fantastic Four' (2005), 'Into the Blue' (2005), 'Sin City' (2005).

Setahun sebelumnya, Jessica Alba juga tampil dalam video klip Bad Blood milik Taylor Swift.

Selain berakting, Jessica Alba juga terjun ke bisnis pada 2012 dan bersama dengan mitra bisnisnya Christopher Gavigan mendirikan The Honest Company yang bergerak dalam bidang barang-barang rumah tangga, popok, dan produk perawatan tubuh.

Jessica Alba memiliki 15-20% saham di perusahaan tersebut.
