Nicolas Cage memiliki nama asli Nicolas Kim Coppola yang lahir pada 7 Januari 1964 di Long Beach, California.

Nicolas Cage merupakan anak dari seorang professor sastra bernama August Coppola dan ibunya merupakan seorang koreografer bernama Joy Vogelsang.

Nicolas Cage mulai menyukai akting ketika mengikuti kelas musim panas di American Conservatory Theatre di San Francisco.

Nicolas Cage bahkan keluar dari Beverly Hills High School untuk mengejar cita-citanya sebagai aktor.

Nicolas Cage kemudian mengubah namanya untuk menyembunyikan identitas aslinya dari nama sang paman yang sudah terkenal sebagai sutradara.

Karier

Nicolas Cage melakukan debutnya sebagai aktor dengan bermain dalam film ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High’ pda 1982 dan film ‘Valley Girl’.

Pada 1983, Nicolas Cage muncul dalam film buatan pamannya, Francis Ford Coppola, yang berjdudl ‘Rumble Fish’.

Nicolas Cage kembali bermain dalam film garapan sang paman yang berjudul ‘The Cotton Club’ dan sebuah film drama komedi berhudul ‘Peggy Sue Get Married’ (1986).

Film ‘Vampire’s Kiss’ yang dimainkannya berhasil melambungkan nama Nicolas Cage sebagai aktor Hollywood.

Pada 1990, Nicolas membintangi empat film sekaligus yaitu ‘Tempo di uccidere’, ‘Fire Birds’, ‘Wild at Heart’ dan ‘Zandalee’.

Sealama 1990-an, Nicolas Cage banyak muncul dalam serangkaian film box-office seperti, 'Honeymoon in Vegas', 'Guarding Tess', 'Kiss of Death', 'Leaving Las Vegas', 'The Rock,' Con Air ',' Face / Off ',' City of Angels 'dan ' Bringing Out the Dead '.

Nicolas Cage kemudian melakukan debut sebagai sutradara pada film 'Sonny' (2002).

Nicolas Cage kemudian bermain sebagai tokoh utama dalam film 'National Treasure' pada 2004 yang menjadi film hit box-office.

Pada tahun 2006,Nicolas Cage tampil dalam film horror berjudul 'The Wicker Man', yang merupakan film remake dengan nama yang sama.

Pada tahun yang sama, Nicolas Cage juga membintangi 'Too Tough to Die' dan 'World Trade Center'.

Pada 2007, Nicolas Cage kembali membintangi fil-film yang sukses dipasaran, seperti film 'Ghost Rider', 'File Dresden' dan sekuel dari film National Treasure, ‘National Treasure: Book of Secrets’.

Film USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage merupakan film yang didasarkan pada kisah nyata tentang tragedy tenggelamnya kapal USS Indianapolis pada akhir Perang Dunia II.

Sedangkan Captain Charles B Macvay merupakan kapten kapal USS Indianapolis yang disidang pada karena dianggap telah gagal mengecoh lawan dan akhirnya McVay bunuh diri pada 1968. (2)
