TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" adalah sebuah lagu yang awalnya ditulis dan direkam oleh Solomon Linda dengan judul "Mbube" untuk Perusahaan Rekaman Gallo Afrika Selatan pada tahun 1939.

Lagu asli Linda ditulis dalam bahasa Zulu, sementara lirik versi bahasa Inggris ditulis oleh George David Weiss.

Pada tahun 1961, versi yang diadaptasi ke dalam bahasa Inggris dengan judul "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" oleh grup doo-wop The Tokens menjadi hit nomor satu di Amerika Serikat.

Lagu ini kemudian menghasilkan jutaan royalti dari versi cover dan lisensi film.
